I say... let me never be comfortable!

Today I did something that I didn't think would be too big of a deal...but has since caused me to get disoriented several times over.

In my work desktop, I have two task bars, one at the top of my screen and one at the bottom. This morning, I decided to switch them because I thought it would be more efficient once I got the hang of it. It's been surprisingly difficult for me to go to the correct place instantly, as I'm so used to things being in a certain spot.

This got me thinking... I like to think of my brain as a muscle, and just like a muscle lack of stretching/exercise will result in atrophy. Today I feel like my brain is being stretched out of its comfort zone, and it feels refreshing in a way.

I think a lot of people strive to find their ideal rut, and then dive into it with not intent of leaving. Then abruptly they are ejected from their comfy-rut, and this can cause people a lot of stress. Perhaps this is because their brain's ability to adapt has atrophied to the point of causing pain when exercised, similar to someone awaking from a coma and being forced into a physically strenuous environment.

I think instead of spending so much time trying to find out how to make things most efficient, why not spend some time thinking of ways to shake things up? Rearrange your life, and force yourself to adapt. Keep your brain on its toes, and screw comfort zones.
