My old blog has been retired, and many of the posts along with it. I only averaged about 2 posts/month for the year I had the old Drupal blog up, and maybe 1 in 5 of those blog posts were worth a look. Hence, I've decided that it was time to whipe the slate clean, and start with a beautiful clean slate... a Django slate, in fact!
Over the past month, I've been researching and toying with Django. I built a soon-to-be-released Django app for the Norwich Bulletin, and now that it's done, I'm taking what I've learned and using it to rebuild my blog from the foundation upward-like.
In order to complement my busy schedule, I've decided to stick to a rigid phased roll-out of functionality for this site. What you're seeing now most likely is the bare-bones first phase, which consists of this post, a few posts I decided to save from my other blog, and that's about it. Everything else will be built from scratch, and I'll be documenting the process I go through as I head towards the final goal.
The Rollout Plan
- Blog posts with a home page
- Comments - Because your thoughts are important!
- Tagging and Categories - Also important
- Photos - A Flickr Integration
- Snippets - Links to stuff I find interesting, with comments
- Projects - What I'm up to / stuff I've done
- Other stuff - I'm sure it'll be AWESOME!
